Tarsissian Claws

Traditionally, the priests of Tarsiss III wielded claw-like weapons in ritualised combat in matters of honour and courage. This tradition was adopted by the Fists of Flame at their inception although the form of the claws themselves have changed drastically as befitting the technology available.

Tarsissian claws today are heavily modified lightning claws whose use require a different fighting style entirely to the traditional doctrine employed when fighting with conventional lightning claws and to wield Tarsissian claws effectively, the Chaplain must first learn the strengths of the claws which place emphasis on punching attacks and sideway slashing attacks.

The weapons themselves are hard crafted, each pair is unique to the artisan who constructed them and as such, the exact form and nature of the claws can vary wildly from generation to generation. Perhaps the greatest pair was those worn by Master Chaplain Mars Guntor whose blades were crafted in such a way as to resemble an phoenix raising from the ashes when looked upon from the side.

Chaplains are spiritual keepers of the Chapter, teaching the rites, ritual practices and beliefs to the Battle Brothers during peacetime and exacting their own form of worship of the Emperor during battle in a tide of enemy blood and death.

Known for their fiery oratory and deep sense of personal valour, Chaplains are warriors who are to be found at the forefront of the battle, their mere presence inspiring to the Chapter's brethren.

Every enemy crushed beneath their armoured kneels is a gift to the Master of Mankind and every blow struck are the surest measure of their worship for the Emperor. In this way, Chaplains extol the virtues of the Emperor of Mankind through sermons and the death of His enemies.

The token weapons of the Chaplain is the Crozius Arcanum, a powered mace that shatters bone and breaks enemies in two, but more rarely, Fists of Flame take to the field of battle with a set of Tarsissian Claws. These ancient relic weapons are extremely potent, consisting of a pair of ornate lightning claws wielded by the first Chaplains of the Chapter. Each claw also features an inbuilt bolter, allowing the Chaplain to engage the enemy at range as well as in personal combat.

Tasked with the upkeep of the Chapter's hundreds of shrines, temples and chapels, the greatest of which is the Templam Majoris which is found on the Fists of Flame flagship, the Scourge of the Damned. Rumoured to be an exact copy of the Templam Majoris back on the Chapter's home world, it is the most sacred of places for the Chapter and only the Master Chaplain, Krypion, himself has provenance to hold mass in such a vaunted shrine as the Templam Majoris.

Unique Wargear:

Tarissian Claws: Tarsissian Claws are highly prized relics.

Tarsissian Claws count as a pair of Lightning claws that also give the Chaplain +1 Strength in combat. They also incorporate a matched pair of bolters which the Chaplain is able to fire in the Shooting phase as a storm bolter.

Special Rules:

Inspiring Presence: Chaplains embody the spiritual teachings of the Tarsissian creed as well as very honour of the Chapter.

The Chaplain and any squad he joins becomes Fearless as described in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Furthermore, any Fists of Flame unit within 6" of the Chaplain gains the Stubborn Universal Special Rule.

Suffer Not The Enemy: Chapter doctrine states that the enemies leadership must be brought low and slain before there can be any chance of victory. Fists of Flame Chaplains see this as only natural and take it upon themselves to slay the heretical leadership of the enemy themselves.

If the Chaplain is base to base contact with an enemy Independent Character, he gains a number of bonus attacks equal to the number of Wounds the enemy character has remaining. If there are multiple Independent Characters in base to base contact, use the highest number of Wounds from all the characters fighting the Chaplain to determine how many bonus attacks he gains that Assault phase.
