The Hammer of Tarsiss is an ancient tradition dating back to the Founding of the Chapter. Historically taking the form of the Chapter's most senior members, the Hammer represents the Chapter as a whole, and its members are always drawn from across the Chapters fighting brethern.

One member is always drawn from the Chapter's Librarium, another from the Chapter's forge. Another is drawn from the Chapter's Chaplains. The fourth represents the Chapter's Apothecarium and the last is always the Chapter's Council Warder, representing the Chapter Council in its entirety.

As such, the Hammer of Tarsiss is as varied as the Chapter itself, with many skills, outlooks and hard-won centuries of experience behind them. In this, the Hammer also forms the most trusted advisors for the Chapter Master, councilling him on the best course of action and giving him the benefit of their experience and skills.

However, it is perhaps their combined might that cannot be denied. The Hammer can be found in the thickest of the fighting, where their keen tactical abilities and unrelenting fighting ability can be best put to use.

Indeed, on the fields of Thulax, the Hammer was sorely tested. At the head of a daemonic incursion, the Bloodthirster Bultharn came to the verdant fields of Thulax. Teleporting into the thick of the fighting, Mars Aran fought the Bloodthirster in single combat whilst the Hammer fought back the lesser daemons attempting to tear down the Chapter Master as he fought the greater daemon. When Bultharn was banished back to the Warp, Mars Aran himself used the rapidly crumbling body of the Bloodthirster to seal the daemonic portal once and for all, whilst the Hammer continued to fight back the tide of daemons surrounding them.

When the Chapter finally broke through, they found the Hammer very much alive, slick with daemonic ichor and every shell expended.

Special Rules:

Force Bubble : Othello is able to project a force bubble around the Hammer, protecting them from the ranged onslaught of the enemy.

At the start of each Fists of Flame player's turn, Othello can attempt to cast the Force Bubble over the Hammer.

Make a psychic test. If passed, the Hammer gains a 4+ Invulnerable save against all Shooting attacks until the start of the turn.

Note that this can only be attempted whilst Othello is still alive and on the table.

Hammer of Tarsiss: The Hammer of Tarsiss are brought together only in the direst circumstances and by Chapter tradition, their place is beside the Chapter Master, guarding him from the perils of the enemy and taking the fight to the enemy.

The Hammer of Tarsiss may only be used if Chapter Master Mars Aran is already included in the army.

Both the Hammer of Tarsiss and Mars Aran form a unit and Mars Aran cannot leave the unit.
