Harbinger Squad

The Harbingers are the fighting elite of the Chapter, warriors above all else and honoured veterans all. They are proven in body, mind and spirit to be beyond reproach and will uphold the values of the Chapter unto death.

Harbingers are tasked with only the most arduous, dangerous and critical assignments, as they are resolute in their mission and only death can stop them once deployed upon the field of battle. To this end, Harbingers wield the most deadly weaponry that the Chapter bears and each squad member is allowed to utilise the tools of their choice. They can bring to battle a bewildering array of close combat and shorted ranged weaponry including lightning claws, thunder hammers, power axes and swords, plasma pistols and storm shields and the squad will often tailor their own armaments to the task at hand.

Upon his ascension to Harbinger, they will be given the right to wear one of the Chapters suits of artificer armour to best protect him from the onslaught of the enemy he will be facing in the coming engagements and he will also receive the training and surgery required to interface with suits of Terminator armour the Chapter possesses, so that should the time come that even the greater protection offered by the artificer armour is insufficient for the goal ahead and where speed is of little consequence, they are able to utilise the potent Terminator armour and the weaponry it affords them to carry.

The deeds of the each of Harbinger are meticulously recorded and stored in the Grand Librarium deep in the bowels of the Scourge of the Damned, as is the manner in how they fell. Only when they fall in battle will a Harbinger earn the right to have his name and place of birth etched into the sacred Wall of Harbingers that lies at the pinnacle of the Great Tower on the Scourge of the Damned.

Harbinger Argustion

The most renowned Harbinger was Argustion who, with his squad, was sent into the Space Hulk, Age of Sorrow to exterminate the sizeable genestealer infestation detected onboard.

As the squad moved ever onward toward the centre of the hulk, the resistance they encountered grew steadily until they came upon the broodnest site and the location of the Broodlord himself.

The battle waged for an hour but eventually only Argustion emerged alive, clutching the head of the Broodlord and presented it to Hueran Tigerian at the great feast that same night before the mortal wounds dealt him by his enemy overcame Argustion and his body was placed in the relic armour of an Ancient where he continues to slumber fitfully until such time as he is needed once again by the Chapter and by the Emperor.
