Master Chaplain Krypion

Krypion is the oldest serving member of the Chapter today, having served the Chapter for over five hundred years, although only Hueran Tigerian can remember a time when Krypion was not the Master Chaplain. Indeed, it was young Krypion who conducted the ritual of embalmment of Tigerian into the sacred sarphagus of an Ancient.

It is widely rumoured that Krypion is able to see into the truth of matters and perceive deception even as it is wrought. It is also said that he can look into the very souls of those his gaze falls upon and it is this insight that has guided and allowed Krypion to recognise those with dedication and undying faith in the Emperor and from whom he then selects for recruitment into the ranks of the Chaplain Novaetes.

Since his elevation to Master Chaplain, Krypion has also inherited the honour to wield the Axe Mordais, an ancient artefact said to be as old as the Shrinehold on Tarsiss III. An axe of remarkable design and artifice, the blackened axe blade is said to be anathema to the Warp, which is perhaps apt then that it falls to Krypion in his role as Master Chaplain to also be the Warder of the Librarium.

As Warder of the Imperium, Krypion must root out daemonic taint from amongst the Chapter's Librarium, less the genetic purity of the Chapter be also tainted and the very soul of the Chapter at risk. Should daemonic taint be found within the mind of a brother Librarian, death is swift and merciful as the daemon's mere existence in the sacred flesh of an Astartes is tantamount to heresy against the Emperor.

Krypion also bears the Torch of Faith, an ancient hairloom whose role is significant in the Chapter's rituals and bears special significance to the Fist of Flame for the Torch itself carries the holy flame of the Chapter, the Eternal Flame from deep within the bowels of the Chapter's flagship Battle Barge. Should Krypion ever fall in battle, it will fall to another Chaplain to bear the Torch of Faith, and in so doing, become Master Chaplain himself.

Unique Wargear:

Axe Mordais: The ancient relic axe, the Axe Mordais is as much a symbol of Krypion's office as it is a potent weapon.

The Axe Mordais counts as a power weapon. In addition, if a psychic ability or power (friendly or otherwise) targets Krypion, his squad or includes him in the area of effect, it is nullified automatically on a 4+ on a D6.

Torch of Faith: Krypions backpack is a heavily modified version that constantly fumes with incandescent incense that purifies and wards against the daemon and its kind.

Any daemon within 6" suffers a -2 Leadership modifier.

Special Rules:

Inspiring Presence: Chaplains embody the spiritual teachings of the Tarsissian creed as well as very honour of the Chapter.

The Chaplain and any squad he joins becomes Fearless as described in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Furthermore, any Fists of Flame unit within 6" of the Chaplain gains the Stubborn Universal Special Rule.

Suffer Not The Enemy: Chapter doctrine states that the enemies leadership must be brought low and slain before there can be any chance of victory. Fists of Flame Chaplains see this as only natural and take it upon themselves to slay the heretical leadership of the enemy themselves.

If the Chaplain is base to base contact with an enemy Independent Character, he gains a number of bonus attacks equal to the number of Wounds the enemy character has remaining. If there are multiple Independent Characters in base to base contact, use the highest number of Wounds from all the characters fighting the Chaplain to determine how many bonus attacks he gains that Assault phase.

Warder of the Librarium: It falls to Krypion to safeguard the spiritual purity of the Chapter and one of his greatest duties is to ensure that none of the Chapter's Librarians fall to the taint of Chaos for it is them that have the most to lose.

Any friendly psyker within 6" of Krypion that suffers a Perils of the Warp attack is immediately removed as a casuality because Krypion executes them rather then let the taint take root any further.
