Mars Aran
Last updated: 10th March 2009 | View Comments | Rate this article
Mars Aran leads the Fists of Flame into battle, leading from the front and doing battle with the enemy where his prestigious psychic talents are needed the most.
And like a great many of the Chapter's Librarians, he exhibits a bizarre if albeit useful psychic talent. During periods of heavy fighting, Fist of Flame Librarians are able to project a sheet of flame before them or coat their body in excruciatingly hot flames, making them a dangerous foe to combat in close quarters as their bodies grow hot enough to melt flesh and sear armour.
Today, he rules his Chapter with a tempered fist, extolling the virtues of honour and duty amongst his body of Astartes. The Fists of Flame themselves have undergone numerous radical changes in fighting doctrine at Aran's command, and it is Aran himself that bears the heaviest burden for giving the command to destroy his home of birth and that of his Chapter when it was lost the Imperium.

Special Rules
Fearless, Independent Character
Angels Flame: Due to a genetic trait inherent in the people of Tarsiss III, those with psychic talents, Mars Aran amongst them, are able to manifest a blazing white hot aura of flames around them in times of heavy combat. This ability follows the same rules for Might of Heroes, but whenever cast upon any member of the Hammer of Tarsiss (including Mars Aran himself), they may re-roll the dice for the number of attacks generated.
Axe of Tarsiss: Few have felt the keen edge of the Axe of Tarsiss and lived, for this ancient weapon was forged at the beginning of the Horus Heresy and locked within the ancient vaults beneath one of the Convents of the Adepta Sororitas. This weapon only appears in the hands of the Chief Librarians of the Fists of Flame, and even then, only in the most dire of times.
The Axe of Tarsiss counts as a force weapon which allows Mars Aran to re-roll failed To Hit rolls in combat.
Enemy of the Four Winds: If the army opposing the Four Winds is an Imperial Guard, Space Marine, Witch Hunters, Daemonhunters or Alien Hunters, then the Imperial player may include the Hammer of Tarsiss for free. However, this comes at a price. The Four Winds player may include additional troops up to a cost of 600 points. Alternatively, the Hammer may be included in the Imperial army at a cost of 600 points, chosen as one of the armies HQ choices.
Master's Shield: This ornately carved shield was forged by the late Master of the Forge for the Chapter and uses psychically attuned psycrystals to focus Aran's powers Mars Aran with a 3+ Invulnerable save for both shooting and close combat attacks.
