  • Astropath: A psychically gifted human who is able to transmit psychic messages great distances.

  • Asurmen: An Eldar Pheonix Lord.
  • At: Tau Term meaning pale or light in colour.
  • Athistaur: Literally means 'master mime' in Eldar.
  • Atillian: An alien race.
  • Atlas: Heavy duty recovery vehicle, designed to remove damaged or destroyed vehicles from the field of battle.
  • Atlas Legion: Chapter of Adeptus Astartes.
  • Attack Bike: Space Marine unit which takes the form of a powerful Space Marine with attached sidecar mounting either a heavy bolter or a multi-melta.
  • Attacks: A characteristic which represents how fast a model attacks in close combat.
  • Attica IV: World within the Imperium.
  • Attila: Homeworld of the famous Attilan Rough Riders. Specialises in cavalry-regiments.
  • Augur Shell: A special shell designed to be fired from a Conqueror Cannon. It can cause horrific damage to enemy armour, but is rarely used.
  • Aun'O Kavaal'Ash: Principal Ethereal on the Tau world of Cha'Mont'Yr.
  • Aura Of Acquiescence: An unholy shroud which makes the ‘occupant’ appear as a loved one of all who view it. This makes it difficult for the viewer to bring themselves to attack the ‘occupant’ if they ever are in conflict.
  • Aurent: Imperial world.
  • Aurora Marines: Chapter of Adeptus Astartes.
  • Auspex: A multi-function sensory device. Can track heat, motion or biosignatures. Can be set to either active or passive scanning.
  • Autocannon: The autocannon is a weapon usually employed by the Chaos Space Marines and Imperial forces and feature tank busting capability with a higher rate of fire then the lascannon.
  • Automatic: Automatic weapons, once fired, automatically eject spent ammo cases (if any), re-seal the gun-breech, and bring the next projectile into the breech for firing. By holding down the trigger, the user of an Automatic weapon can unleash massive amounts of fire very quickly. Auto-weapons are often automatic (hence the name).
  • Avaitor Scholam: Flight school for Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy pilots.
  • Avatar Of Khaine: The form which Khaine assumes when he takes to the field of battle for the Eldar.

  • Agrippa: Agrippa is a Lunar Class Cruiser. It was seen during the Gothic War.
  • Adrantis Subsector: Adrantis Nebula (or Adrantis, or Adrantis Subsector) is a subsector of the Calixis Sector. It is the home of the Magos Genetus Halix Redole, which is dedicated to eradicating genetic corruption in Adrantis.

  • Adamantine: Adamantium is perhaps the strongest material used by the Imperium, impenetrable to most commonplace weapons. It is the material composing the Imperial Palace's Eternity Gate1, and is often used in conjunction with plasteel and ceramite, such as in the structure of Terminator Armour.

  • Altid Crusade: The Altid Crusade was a joint operation between the Imperial Guard and Dark Angels.
  • 'Ard Boyz: Ardboyz are heavily armoured Ork Boyz who own and wear 'Eavy Armour. Only veterans who have managed to survive many battles and slaughtered many foes have the chance to scavenge sufficient materials to build or purchase such an Armour. This also means that 'Ardboyz are excellent scavengers even above the normal Ork ability.

  • Artillery: Artillery is a catch-all term for a variety of support weapons, including mortars, heavy rockets and howitzers. Artillery weapons usually have extreme ranges, and can engage the enemy without actually being able to see them. The Basilisk and the Griffon are the two most common forms of Artillery.

  • Assault Cannon: A machine gun type weapon that is usually fitted to suits of Terminator armour or to Dreadnoughts. Also the Baal Predator sports a set of Twin-linked assault cannons in it's turret.
